Private equity funds are much, much bigger now than they were during the first dotcomboom. The lending against these assets in private markets has been a little more extreme too. Investors like being a not having to confess that they lost 20 % of the funds capital. One of the biggest questions about private equity going forward is also one of the biggest negatives: dividend recapitalizations. Private equity firms have taken money from public companies and gone back in and paid themselves dividends. From an perspective of private equity firms, it's great because they're able to get their money out so quickly.
