The Importance of Speedrunning in Games

Most of the most popular speedruns are from games like punch out or Wii Sports resort golf. It's hard to say whether people should really try to cater their games and to speedrunning particularly if there's anything they should add. The only thing I could think of that would be good is don't use too many unskippable cutscenes because you know nobody likes that. Some of the most simple games end up being the most exciting and interesting runs as people learn to exploit the mechanics so I guess don't overcomplicate it.
