How to Pronounce a Word in English

In many cases I had to know the word before I could confidently pronounce it. If there were no sound there you would just take each word as a separate word like a Chinese character. The spelling on its own I think would be an easier problem. The problem is the pronunciation where it becomes quite confusing. How do you pronounce the word?
