Is the Messiah Coming on the Clouds?

Luke's gospel was written some 50 years after christianity got under way. With each passing decade, it became harder to sustain the belief that jesus would arrive any day. Now it's difficult for us to imagine how ever, day people in antiquity sensed the passing of time. Even those who still hope that jesu is coming back have to keep coming up with excuses as to why all the predictions about the timing of the big day made through the centuries have been wrong.
