The Perception and the Reality of Minimum Wage

There's no law requiring employers to pay more than the minimum wage. And yet 99% of jobs in the United States pay more than that. The thing that pushes wages up isn't the minimum wage, it's the value of the workers labor. Half of businesses in this country have less than 500 employees. That's what the government classifies as a small business.
