The Importance of Speaking English

I was an exchange student there in the 90s that's cool and I ended up in the former Eastern part of Germany which as you know was part of a Soviet satellite state Eastern block so when I got there it was no longer the case but all the kids my age grew up learning Russian and German. There was very little English except maybe in the high school level because things had started to changeso everyone speaking English was like hi nice meet you.
