Climate Change and Mass Incarceration
Roxanne Jones: We have gotten to this point with climate change where those terms are basically meaningless. What can overwhelm an environment can be seemingly minimal men it has a serious impact on people and places and animals. In climate emergencies, incarcerated people are often the last ones to be helped. And they are often not evacuated, nor do they have basic mitigators like heat or air conditioning. I mean, last year, hearing the stories about texas prisons in the middle of summer, i mean, itwas like torture. Ye ray, this year too, riht, being in the facility alone.
