The Acceleration of Corporate Separations in a Subdued M&A Environment
Some of these transactions fit within what I would call a shrink to grow thesis, which is it can be difficult to grow all parts of the diversified organization simultaneously. A newco has, for the first time in its existence, its own independent equity currency. And we see them using that currency to engage in M&A. The average tenure of a CFO or a CIO is now at about four years in the S&P 500.
