The English ambassador in Brussels worried that Frederick might be so badly advised as to accept the dignity, which will bring him a crawl and almost eternal war. They wrote to James for his advice as it happens, as also did Elizabeth to the Archbishop of Canterbury, George Abbott. But he reckoned that when presented with a feta conplee, James would be forced to take a different family view. He agreed entirely with the Trumbull view of life, not the Abbott version. So, before he could have expected a response from James, Frederick accepted the offer and he and Elizabeth set off the Prague and their shiny new crown.
