Genetic Testing and Alzheimer's Risk
The drugs that we're hearing about most recently are really aimed at early stage, people who've been able to detect early stage Alzheimer's. I think it makes sense to consider genetic testing and see if some of these new drugs can be started very early. If you have a parent who's had late onset, I would still say that I don't think it really makes a lot of sense to do genetic testing because the drugs really don't work all that well and the risk is still relatively small. But I have a feeling that people are going to want to know now than maybe 10 years ago.
