What Does the Financialization of the University Mean for Higher Education?
At most elite universities, endowments in recent years have been securing just absolutely massive returns. Many colleges have almost no endowment to speak of at all. The sheer amount of wealth under the control of university investment offices on the order of for something like Yale $40 billion is a huge advantage. When you have $40 billion in the bank, you do whatever you want.
