The Shadow Side of a Strength-Based Approach
Sometimes strength-based approaches can be too Hollywood idealized, right? Sometimes if you are coming from a purely strength-based approach, then actually you can sometimes be blind to some of the other behaviours or experiences. I do think it's possible to be too purist in a strength-based framework and therefore tip into that kind of idealized version of what the therapeutic space should hold. You should still be able to say to someone these behaviours are having an impact in these ways. And I'm thinking about child protection and drug and alcohol - there are spaces where it can become a bit grey.
