What's the Ending of the Naturalist?

The naturalist is a story about a future in which highly conservative government has done something totally insane. In the wake of a zombi apocalypse, there are certain parts of the country where they have just walled off an area full of zombes. And what they do now is, if there a certain class of prisoners that they just dump them in the zombi zone and let them fend for themselves. There's a tradition in these an escape from new york as a classic version of it, of the anti hero with his own moral code.
