History on Fire

CHAPTER

The Siege of Orlean

The English army was getting ready for one more offensive to win the whole war. On October 12th, 1428, the English began the siege of Orlean. If they could take Orlean's, their path to conquer the rest of France was wide open. This was not going to be a fast affair. They were going to make life progressively harder for the inhabitants until hopefully they would surrender. Rather entertaining episode took place during the first few weeks of the siege. Two French knights challenged two English knights to a joust. One French knight unhorsed an English one with a trust of the lands, and the other match was fought to a draw.
