Is John the Baptist the Messiah or Should We Look for Another?

John the Baptist in prison sends some of his disciples to Jesus and they ask Jesus this question. Many Bible commentators have thought that John himself was wavering while in prison, wondering and even doubting whether Jesus was the Messiah. That is not likely however, since John knew by revelation who Jesus was. And so what if John sent them to go and come and see essentially like, hey you guys go ask, go see and in so doing they have this experience.
