In the 19 fifties, there was an ideal of a good job that would take care of you. But in today's economy, few and fewer people have that kind of job. The erosion of union power has made it more difficult for workers to get better pay or benefits. There is also less money available for retirement accounts as wage growth stagnates.

The pandemic changed how we think about work. In this repodcast, Vox’s Anna North says it might be time to change how much we work, too.
