There is literature looking at people with, for instance, spinal cord injuries and whether or not their cognition changed. Maybe we'll do a follow up episode where we actually have the answer to whether or not this approach bore fruit. It's always kind of bothered me that people use the argument as war metaphor so much.

We often think of metaphors as poetic flourishes, a nice way to punctuate your ideas and make them more relatable. But what if metaphors arenâ€™t simply tools of language but part of thought itself?
