In contrast to the western view shematic in plant medicinal practices has always assumed, or i should say, assumed, but known intuitively, that mind and body are inseparable. So when the shamans work with you, they do make a distinction between your mind and your body. It's all one unit. And so in the iowas ceremony, when a chanting takes place, that chant in is very directly aimed at whatevers happening to you on a bodily energetic level which also shows up in your emotional states and in your thoughts. That it's a completely wholistic practice.
