There's been research done on this, and I guess the research maybe is mixed. But if you think something is lucky, it will actually help you. So like I have a scent that I love, it's the scent of hay and I save it. I only use it when I need luck. And here I am putting on my lucky smell. It just kind of plays into your idea of self-efficacy. You can do this with your senses. That might work very well for you because that's what you expect to bring to the situation. The effect was actually a learned behavior, a learned association, not anything that actually is physiological.
