You Could Transmit Messages Into Space With Lasers

Lasers could be used to beam data into space, like Morse code. A particle beam would allow a ship to carry reaction mass so it can travel at 99 and more the speed of light. The technology has never been seen before in science fiction but is possible for an advanced civilization.
