What Characterizes Capitalism?

Capitalism transforms everything into a possible commodity. A thing can be bought and then sold fora more expensive or put to work to make something that is more expensive than it costs to actually acquire that labor. So within production time, you have working time and then idle time,. Or we could think of it otherwise. We've only been king about the circuit of capital abstractly. But in relation to these other systems, or in relation to a natural bartering economy, what characterizes capitalism is that it transforms all things into commodities.
