Protestants are 20% of the population, but they own by the 1770s 95% of the land in Ireland. The Irish Parliament from the 1690s onward is a Protestant Parliament. There's almost like a three-tiered society with a Church of Ireland elite with Presbyterian, somewhere below them, and with Catholics below them again.
