The Optimists and the Combinatorial Explosion

There's a huge amount out there to be discovered and as computing power goes up, their ability to mine those intellectual shoals is pretty significant. You can tell a similar story around gene editing, for example, and the possibilities that we might find if we look at different gene combinations. Once you get up to 10 elements, there's more recipes than there are seconds since the Big Bang created the reverse. That's a pretty exciting notion and certainly suggests that there's reasons to be optimistic for the future. And also reasons to ensure that our policy settings right to encourage innovation.
