What Is Epistemic Deference?
i feel very torn on the concept of epistemic deference. How do we decide who knows? Who have authority in truth claims? Identity has something to do with that, and it's not something to be thrown out. One way we could respond is by taking something that we should do on occasion, that might be a good thing to do in a particular circumstance. So on occasion, ouknow, maybe the thing to do is just listen to that person, that person over there. There's a million times in our lives where that is just going to be thething to do,. And that' smart. But that act of deference can't survive abuse by the people being deferred
