In 18 81, black washerwomen in atlanta threatened to strike before a big event. They realized their labor wasn't being appreciated and they wanted more money. One of the stipulations for joining your union was that you had to register to vote. You have to shout out to dorothylee bolten who later became a civil rights icon by organizing domestic workers during the 19 sixties.
