The Debt Ceiling Is a Bad Idea
I think the fact that we have to play any kind of games at all to get around the Republicans using the debt ceiling as a gambling chip is the problem. The president can spend despite Congress's will. This is not an appropriations but there's no spending is appropriations. So even if it means that this goes to court and we pay our bills in the meantime that still buys us more time. I don't know what he's supposed to do other than default or give into these people, knowing that the last time we gave in this has led for led to more debt ceiling manufactured crisis.
