The European Parliament's Response to the CHI Investment Agreement
The Biden administration was worried that China and the EU were getting closer through this investment agreement. And yet three years on, it's still not come to anything. The European Parliament needed to ratify this agreement known as the CHI with its members on a Chinese sanctions list. Of course, they push back against that. But I think the consensus in Europe these days is really that this deal is not going to see the light of day. So I think we're stuck. This deal is also a deal from another time. It was before Russia's invasion of Ukraine. There are people in Olaf Shotsu's entourage who still think it's worthwhile having.
