The Audacity of Poetry Is Here in Song of Myself
The audacity of poetry is here in song of myself. You go through the highs and lows with whitman, or with our poet. The poem reaches a crescendo and begins to wind down. It leaves the reader on a note of exhausted excitement for what's ahead. I'll read the last three passages now. 50, 51 and 52,. there is that in me. I do not know what it is, but i know it is in me, wrenched and sweaty, calm and cool. Then my body becomes i sleep. I sleep long. There is without name. It is a word unsaid. It is not in any dictionary, utterance, symbol something.
