Is the Chinese Social Credit System Overblown?

I worry a little bit that when i say that the western coverage of social credit has been overblown. I do think that the chinese government has plenty of quite concerning plans about what they would like to do with social credit, but they are very much in the prototype stage. People want to talk this social credit system as if it's cone of the beon and all of chinese state control. But it seems to be actually a relatively small part. It's part of a much larger intra structure and apparatus that i think is extremely concerning. On the other hand, i'm not convinced yet of how much of a threat it poses to us security. So i guess where i end up
