'Sulpicius's Death
Gaius sulpicius was executed by Sulla for carrying concealed daggers. Marius fled to Africa with a few companions, and is now living in the wilds of austia. He has friends there, thousands of former soldiers who have helped him through his difficult times. But they are all killed when he tries to hide from sulla's troops on an esquiline hill. The story follows marius as he makes his way back to rome after being thrown into prison under threat of death.
