Django allows you to run an event loop in one thread and the greenlet based one, or whatever you're doing previously. You just need these wrappers to move things from one thread to another. I'm not sure it is possible to go there with Flask. Because if you do so, you end up breaking extension support. It's quite common for extensions to extend the Flask class and change the methods. But of course, they won't be async. So how are they going to deal with that?
