Introduction
We've been using robots in our wars this entire century and even a bit before. It is entirely possible we might see a future in which nations have signed treaties banning the use of autonomous armed drones, or even robots as weapons platforms for remote control. We should also rule out any serious use of Isaac Asimov's three laws of robotics as anything more than a loose mental guide, especially for battlebots. Eventually you presumably use your robots to make more robots for production and combat. Though a civilization that replaces humans with robots in all capacities is at a risk of replacing humans with robots - potentially reducing humans to pets or historical footnotes.
