In the nineteenth century, working class communities that were cut off the financial system created their own co operative banks. The more successful those companies became, the greater pressure for them to sell out. Why don't we see the system of co operative supplanting capitalists has succeeding? I love this question. One reminds me of tandard joke to economist. Are walking down the street and one says, oh, look, a 100 dollar bill on the floor. And the other one says, no, i'm not even looking, because if it was there, somebody would have picked it up. It's a good one.
