The glopagos giant tortoise, celinoids fantasticus, is not extinct. It was believed to be extinct but some evidence poked its head out. Scientists sequenced the genomes of both living and dead specimens from 19 o six years ago. And there's another one that was deemed extinct in 20 12 - this is stephen gogren.
