The Canadian Senate Passes Online News Act
The Canadian Senate passed the online News Act Thursday, sending it for royal assent. It makes access to any portion of content from a news business forbidden without an agreement by a qualifying digital news intermediary. Facebook announced it will remove news content from Facebook and Instagram in Canada as soon as this thing becomes law. Google also started testing blocking some news content for Canadian users but said it's still working with the Canadian government on a possible solution.
