The Jesuits in the Americas
In 17 67, king charles the third decided to clear out the troublesome jesuits by expelling them all from his empire. The spanish authorities tended to look at the jesuits and that focus on education as a hot bed of heretical sedition. One of the founding documents of spSpanish american independence was, in fact, written by one these jesuit exiles,. Exiled in london, he penned his famous letter to the sp Spanish Americans which explicitly promoted the idea of their independence.
