The Spectrum of Mental Health Conditions
In western societies, we're seeing the growing prevalence of mental health as an issue. The issue that faces those who work in the profession such as psychiatrists is how do you define what is pathological? So when a condition has a very significant effect on one's normal ability to function, then most people would consider that it's become pathological. And obviously, I mean attached to that is a criticism by some that the widening of the spectrum and the medicalisation of normal human emotions and behaviour have been pushed by some who have interests in doing so.
