If the person apologizes and you just continue to be unresponsive, then that can really make them feel like their efforts aren't being acknowledged. "That might really inhibit them from engaging in those positive changes" These days we have so many media available to us to use to communicate. What about apologizing via text? Are these kinds of apologies as effective as an in-person apology or as meaningful? There's not a lot of research on this.
