Anu Chinkwei's Story

Before Anu entered a relationship with Joe, she had been left devastated by her breakup with Simon. She was particularly hurt by a claim he made that she was intellectually inferior. The comment had a profound impact on the headstrong Anu and it marked a dramatic turning point in her behaviour. By late 1995, Anu had developed bulimia, an eating disorder characterized by binge eating episodes,. followed by self-induced vomiting, fasting, and to the misuse of laxatives and diuretics.
