The Rise and Fall of Cavour

The Count of Cavour wanted a thoroughgoing reform of the kingdom. Camilo Benzo was born in Turin in 1810, at the height of the Napoleonic era. In his 20s he joined the Piedmont army as an engineer but resigned in 1831. He then turned mostly to matters of economic, social, and political reform.
