The Importance of Imagination in Afrofuturism
Too much play is privilege. Structure teaches people to constrain their preferences a little more, but also too much play is healthy. Play can work often as thought of as being an end in itself. It's just nice for you to grow your skills there. But it's also got very important social justice functions, arguably. There's this stuff called speculative civic literacy which talks about in order for students to change the world, they have to have the imagination to envision a better world.
