Is iCloud a Good Idea?
When data is end to end encrypted, that means not even Apple can access the plaintext of that data. So what Apple has done is put more categories of users data beyond its own reach as well as that of attackers or law enforcement. Because it's opt in, it doesn't mean that everybody is going to rush to turn this on. It'll be people for whom that meets their needs for what they want of cloud privacy and security.
