The Duty of Care Bill: A Practical Impact on Climate Change
I'm really hopeful that this can start to change the way that decisions are made here. We do have a duty of care to young people in future generations. But at the moment, they can't vote. They can't lobby. So there hasn't been that incentive to make decisions that care for them. And I'll be urging my fellow colleagues here to consider voting to legislate aduty of care. It seems to me that the thing that politicians respond to is pressure from the public. If they know that this is an issue that people are going to vote on at the next election and hold them to, then I hope we can see some movement.
