The Black and White Contrast in John's Letter
First John as a letter is a lot more aimed at exhorting his readers than we often think. He's not saying that those who are united with Christ will be perfect in this world, he's categorically not saying that. So then the question is, why does he talk in black and white term? Yeah. And I think it's a little bit like this, he's he's saying, in a sort of exhorting way, this is the way things are in the family of God.
