What Is the Potential of the Presidency?
The framers were obsessed with preventing abuses of power that they found inherent in monarchies. They distrusted unrestrained popular opinion and provided instead for the selection of a president through electors selected by state legislatures. The right to vote just being advisory anyway, and still confined to white mail property owners. And there was a tie in the electro college, as thomas jefferson and aaronborgh discovered. It's even more unequal than the electoral college. I mean, we my party. But they were trying to limit abuses of power and to slowly mae the country ready for democracy.
