Annie Drexler: We shame ourselves, we feel like other people are going to shame us for it. When I ran into my advisor, right, I felt terrible shame about having quit her program. And then when I got back in contact with her, it was completely the opposite. It was like, Oh my gosh, didn't you live a life? I'm so happy. She says she is sad that feeling of shame over having quit stopped them from having a relationship.
