One thousand research journal is one of the world's most expensive journals. It publishes papers in a number of different formats, including print-on-demand (PODs) and online publication. The new POD system could be used to ensure that all articles are fully published before they can be reviewed by three reviewers. But critics say it would lead to lower quality work being submitted for review.
