The History of the Universe

All the heavy elements, other than a little bit of lithium in the universe were produced by nuclear reactions in stars. So we are actually made of this star dust, and all the dust around you is as well. We're seeing the sun as it was about eight and one third minutes ago. The nearest stars that you see are some tens or hundreds of light years away. But if you look at galaxies that are billions of light years Away, you're seeing them as they were billions of years ago. And indeed, we get a movie of the past.
