In South Korea, the military hierarchy system is not based on age. The rank in and of itself has a sub rank called 'seniority' It's based on when you got to the base - so if I've been at the base for a year and you just got to thebase, I'm automatically your senior. But then if I'm here and you are a rank below me and you've been at this base 10 years longer than me, you're still my junior because you're still a rank above me. "I don't know why it's so complicated. Stressful," he says.
