The Story of General Farr's Death

A voyage that normally required 10 days would often take more than double that time. Such was the fear of being sunk at any moment that crew always wore life vests and warm clothing. One of his brothers working on a vessel which was sunk during her passage through the Taiwan Strait was left adrift in very cold waters for three days and nights. When rescue finally came, he was almost unconscious and his body had turned blue due to the cold.
